I've been running poopballs.tv for over a year now out-of-pocket, and I've always been happy to do so. I started poopballs mostly for personal use, to watch TheChief1114 drive car fast, but with music. It soon became apparent others appreciated it too.
The number of viewers, vods, and streamers have grown steadily over time.
But a little while back the inevitable happened, and we ran out of hard drive space.
Believe it or not, poopballs.tv stores over 30TB of vods!
I had to make the annoying decision to start removing older vods, so that we can continue recording new streams.
But I don't want to have to do that, so I'm asking for your help.
I have a plan.
Currently we have 2 servers. The European server has the aforementioned 30TB disk setup, and streams to vods to users who aren't in North or South America. The Canadian server fetches vods from that server and serves them to North and South American viewers.
We could keep upgrading the European server, but it'll get expensive quick, and there's only so much money my partner will allow me to spend on a website called poopballs before she leaves and takes the dog with her.
So the plan is to begin storing vods locally from my house, and for the servers to then fetch them when needed.
I'm not showing off or nothing but I recently got a 2Gbit internet connection, up and down, so it's perfectly doable.
It's not going to happen overnight, the largest barrier is the money needed to buy the disks.
So I'm asking for your help.
